It was a near-perfect weekend for Oregon Team at Imola in the second of the six double-header rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The Italy-based squad claimed victory in race one with Patrik Fraboni and Silas Rytter, before repeating the feat in race two and also securing a Pro-Am class win with Josef Knopp and Pietro Perolini. To complete what was an almost flawless weekend, Adalberto Baptista took victory in the Lamborghini Cup.
It was therefore a memorable weekend at the Imola circuit for the team managed by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa, who also celebrated the best fourth-place finish achieved by the pairing of Alfio Spina and Rógerio Grotta, narrowly missing out on the podium.
In the first race, held in damp but mostly dry conditions, Fraboni immediately emerged as one of the stars of the race, climbing from eighth on the grid and gaining three positions before handing over to Rytter. The Dane then delivered an outstanding second stint, taking the lead and holding on to it until the chequered flag, despite a late safety car bunching up the field.
In race two, run in wet conditions, Rytter started from the third row and gradually worked his way into second place before taking the lead, with Fraboni completing the job in the closing stages. Those two victories, combined with the third-place finish scored in the opening round at Paul Ricard, have moved the Cremosano-based duo up to second in the Pro standings, just four points shy of the championship lead.
Also delivering a very strong performance in the Pro class for Oregon Team were Spina and Brazilian driver Grotta. The pair secured an excellent fourth-place finish in Race 1, while Race 2 could have yielded even more, with the Sicilian driver setting the fastest lap and fighting his way back into podium contention. However, a late-race slide for Grotta dropped them to seventh overall and fifth in the Pro class.
Another masterclass came from Perolini and Knopp in Pro-Am. After claiming two second-place finishes at Paul Ricard, they secured their first victory of the season in Race 1 at Imola. The win came after Knopp had qualified fourth in class and was also rewarded with an excellent fifth place overall. In Race 2, they added a fifth-place finish and more valuable points, which now place them second in the class standings, just one point off the lead.
In the Lamborghini Cup, after finishing seventh in Race 1, Baptista bounced back to win the second and final race of the weekend, further consolidating his championship lead and claiming his second podium finish of the season after previously taking second place at Paul Ricard.
There was less fortune instead at Misano in the opening round of the Italian GT Endurance, where the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 fielded by Oregon Team and shared by Enzo Geraci, Guido Luchetti and Artem Petrov finished down the order.
