Oregon Team is mounting a three-pronged challenge for top honours in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, which heads to the Barcelona circuit this weekend (2–4 October) for the fifth of six double-header rounds in a season set to conclude at Monza later this month.
The team run by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa arrives in Spain with Adalberto Baptista leading the Lamborghini Cup standings. The Brazilian, in his second season in the series reserved for the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, holds a five-point advantage over his nearest rival, thanks to a victory at Imola last May, two second places and a third-place finish.
The lead is also within reach in the top Pro class, where Patrik Fraboni and Silas Rytter currently sit second, just three points off the top. The young Italian and the Dane claimed three consecutive victories across Imola and Spa. It was in Belgium that they moved into the lead, before relinquishing it at the most recent Nürburgring round, where they finished fourth and second respectively in the two races. Also targeting a strong result in Pro are fellow Brazilian Rogério Grotta and Sicilian Alfio Andrea Spina, who have shown excellent progress but are still chasing their first podium of the year.
Meanwhile, Pietro Perolini and Czech driver Josef Knopp remain firmly in contention for the Pro-Am title. The Oregon Team duo began the season with two second-place finishes at Paul Ricard, before taking a victory at Imola and returning to the podium at the Nürburgring with a third-place finish. Having scored points in all eight races held so far, Perolini and Knopp sit 21 points behind the leaders, with a total of 64 still available.
The weekend’s track action gets underway tomorrow with two 60-minute free practice sessions. On Saturday, qualifying starts at 11:10, followed by the first of the two 50-minute races at 16:50. Race 2 will then get underway on Sunday at 12:10. Both races will be broadcast via live streaming on the official Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel and live on Sky Sport Arena in Italy.
