Oregon Team enjoyed a successful outing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at Spa-Francorchamps, where Patrik Fraboni and Silas Rytter claimed their third consecutive Pro class victory following their double success at Imola, while also securing a fourth-place class finish to move into the championship lead.
Over the more than seven kilometres of the Belgian circuit, which hosted the third of the season’s six double-header events, Adalberto Baptista also retained the lead in the Lamborghini Cup standings after finishing second and securing a podium finish in Race 1. It was an overall positive weekend in the Ardennes for Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa‘s squad, which has now also moved to the top of the Teams‘ standings, opening up an eight-point advantage over its closest rivals.
During a weekend marked by extremely high temperatures, with trackside conditions exceeding 40°C, Rytter and Fraboni began by recording the fourth and sixth fastest times respectively in the Pro class during qualifying, with team-mates Rogerio Grotta and Alfio Andrea Spina, sharing another Pro entry, immediately behind them. Baptista also impressed in qualifying, finishing second in the Lamborghini Cup in the first session and fourth in class in the second. Qualifying proved slightly more challenging for the Pro-Am pairing of Josef Knopp and Pietro Perolini, who ended up seventh and third respectively in the two sessions.
In Race 1, Rytter delivered an excellent opening stint before handing over to Fraboni while leading the race. Following a Full Course Yellow period, however, the young Italian dropped to second overall while retaining the lead in the Pro class, ultimately taking the chequered flag in that position as the race finished behind the Safety Car following another competitor’s off-track excursion. Grotta and Spina also produced a strong performance, securing an overall top-10 finish with eighth place overall and fifth in the Pro class. Knopp and Perolini finished fifth in Pro-Am, while Baptista initially led the Lamborghini Cup category before eventually crossing the line in second position.
Race 2 on Saturday once again saw Fraboni and Rytter produce a consistent and measured performance, allowing them to secure seventh place overall and fourth in the Pro class. A similar story unfolded for Spina and Grotta, who finished 11th overall and fifth in class. It was a more difficult race for Knopp and Perolini, who ended up eighth in Pro-Am, while Baptista narrowly missed out on a Lamborghini Cup podium with fourth place.
The championship will now enter an almost two-month break before returning for the fourth round of the season at the Nürburgring at the end of August.
