First take of the season and a double success at Paul Ricard for Oregon Team, which kicked off the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe campaign in perfect style. A commanding overall victory came from the Pro pairing of Frenchman Enzo Geraci and young Czech driver Josef Knopp, who was making his debut in the one-make continental series reserved for cars from the Sant’Agata Bolognese manufacturer. Brazilian driver Adalberto Baptista also claimed victory in the Lamborghini Cup, where he too was making his very first appearance.
The Le Castellet weekend began with Saturday’s two qualifying sessions. In the first, Geraci posted the second-fastest time – just one thousandth of a second off pole – while Knopp secured fifth in the second session. Another Oregon Team rookie, Rosario Messina, set the tenth-fastest time in the same class, with his teammate Gustaw Wisniewski placing ninth. In the Am class, Pietro Perolini secured the fourth-fastest time, with teammate Massimo Ciglia in fifth. Baptista recorded the fifth-best time in both Lamborghini Cup sessions.
In Saturday’s Race 1, a penalty of five seconds due to a safety car infringement pushed Geraci and Knopp out of the overall top ten, though they still managed to finish fourth in class and scored points. Less luck for Messina-Wisniewski, who were forced to retire five laps from the end. Perolini and Ciglia secured a fifth place in the Am class, while Baptista went off track and was forced to retire.
Race 2 on Sunday told a different story. In wet conditions, Knopp quickly moved up to third place at the start. After the pit stops, Geraci rejoined in second and launched a decisive attack on the final lap, overtaking the leading car of Guido Luchetti to clinch his first win of 2025.
Wisniewski and Messina finished eighth in class, continuing to build experience. Perolini and Ciglia claimed sixth in the Am category, maintaining consistent performance. The final surprise came from the Lamborghini Cup, where Baptista starred in the second half of the race and crossed the finish line in first place.
Next up for the Oregon Team is the GT Open round at Portimão on April 26-27, while the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will return to action at the end of May for Round 2 in Monza.
