Oregon Team qualifies P7 in LMP3 at Spielberg after a strong weekend start

“We are going for it this weekend. The pole was in our frame although qualifying didn’t go as good as practice. But we know we have the right potential.” The words of Jerry Canevisio pretty much sum up the first part of the weekend for Oregon Team as the Italian squad is lining-up at Red Bull Ring in the third out of six rounds of the European Le Mans Series.

Driving the Norma M30 racecar fielded by the Cremosano-based squad, Dario Capitanio set the seventh fastest lap of the LMP3 category. He is sharing the French-built prototype with fellow countryman Davide Roda and Colombian Andrés Méndez.

The young Roman driver experienced a great start yesterday by setting the fastest lap time in class (14th overall out of 40 contenders) at the end of the first practice session. Practice 2 was equally positive with the third fastest lap, and the same goes for the Bronze Test held on Friday and that saw Como-based Roda end up third.

Due to a series of circumstances, it was then not possible to repeat the same results in the qualifying session. In spite of the difficulties though, the team received another confirmation of the car’s potential and was reassured that the development work done at Silverstone and Monza paid its dividends.

The race will be long and the team aims to recover as many positions as possible during the four hours. The start is set for tomorrow at 13:00 PM with live streaming coverage on www.europeanlemansseries.com.
