Oregon Team set for International GT Open season start at Portimão

Less than one week after the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe opener at Imola, Oregon Team returns to track for the inaugural round of the International GT Open at the Algarve circuit in Portimão. In its third year in the series where it clinched both the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles in 2022 and secured a total of 11 victories over the last two seasons, the Italy-based team is set to start the championship with three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 cars.

Three cars and a completely revamped line-up for the Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa led squad, that aims high. Marzio Moretti, a 22-year-old from Mantua, who in 2023 was a front runner in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe with Oregon Team, makes his debut alongside Artem Petrov, who already has a season under his belt in the Italian GT Championship.

A second car will be fielded for factory driver Leonardo Pulcini, who clinched the championship title in the same series with Oregon Team in 2022, after winning the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe title the previous year. The 25-year-old from Rome will share driving duties with Swiss driver Rolf Ineichen, himself a highly experienced driver.

The third pairing is formed by South African racer Jordan Pepper, also a factory driver for the Sant’Agata Bolognese manufacturer, and another Rome-based driver, Alessio Deledda, who competed in the DTM championship in 2022 and 2023.

With over 30 GT3 cars on the grid, the Portimão weekend will kick off on Friday with two free practice sessions. qualifying one will start on Saturday at 10:30am CET, followed by the first race (70 minutes) at 3:15pm. On Sunday, qualifying two begins at 10:00am, with the last race (60 minutes) starting at 1:20pm.

Both races will be live streamed on the @GTOPENseries YouTube channel.
